Aditya Jyot Eye Bank along with Aditya Jyot Foundation for Twinkling Little Eyes proposes a massive eye donation awareness rally to spread the awareness about pledging of eyes and the need for eye donation on Thursday, 13th October 2011 on occasion of World Sight Day.
As per the statistics, one out of every 150 person in India is affected by corneal blindness which mostly affects children and people from poor social economic strata of the society. Out of the 1 million deaths that occurred in the country last year, a mere 42,000 had opted for eye donations. This is in contrast to the demand of about 3,00,000 eyes per annum. We are one of the fastest growing economies in the world today and ironically, we also shoulder one of the largest populations of the visually impaired amounting to almost one-fourth the world's blind population living in India.
We invite you to join hands with us in promoting this noble cause of creating awareness about Eye Donation. We need your valuable support and active participation in this Rally.
The Rally will start from Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital Pvt. Ltd, plot 153, Major Parmeswaran Road, Wadala at 8.30 am on 13th Oct. It will pass through Khalsa College, Don Bosco, Kings Circle, Matunga station, and will conclude at Ruia College.
